But on the real, DAYUM, I've felt like this a few times man. Thought I was losing my mind. Charles, keep your head up, man. You're definitely one of my favorite up and comin rappers, but shit like this is hard to defend. Get well, CH, and RAP ON ONE OF MY BEATS NI99A!!! lol
"Text message breakups, the casualty of touring...how she gon' wake up and not love me no more. I thought I was the asshole? I guess it's rubbin' off!"
Some real ish right there!
Off Kanye West's recent CLASSIC album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" Go COP!!!
This track is dedicated to the people of Oakland, Joe Budden fans, DJ HI-DEF supporters, and people that spread love everywhere and aren't always trying to wallow in nonsense.
This beat was produced by me, and I wanted to do it some justice. Needless to say, it is a blend and not an OFFICIAL song with Joe Budden but it's damn good in my opinion. Although Joe only spits for a minute, it's more to showcase my storytelling abilities/production in my songs.
So with that being said, I came across a Joe Budden acapella mix so I'm thinking I'll put another blend out next February....still waiting on a title though.
Enjoy! Happy Thanksgiving! Peace to all!!!! -DJ HI-'motherfuckin'DEF
Since February of 2009, I have made Valentine's Day mixtapes where I take either a collection of old school songs/acapellas and blend them with new beats or do a rendition of a song, etc....Check out my previous Valentine's Day mixtapes "When Did You Fall In Love With HD?" and "When Did You Fall Back in Love With HD?" My idea for this mixtape, titled "Hugh DEFner" is to show all sides of my talent. This tape will take listeners from the highest places in life to the lowest depths of the soul. It's definitely guaranteed to make people feel a certain way whether good or bad.
So far I have the following artists committed: Jay Burna, Mucho Deniro, Maine Event, Defamed, Scott Koncept and Chief Stockton.
I've also been doing work lately with Trak D, a pretty well known dude out in the Los Angeles area, and we have decided that we will start pushing out projects together soon as the New Year is here. With me on my sample ish, and stringing the beat to match my creative side along with Trak's excellent 'producer/engineer' ear, this project "Hugh DEFner" can't go wrong. My only wish is that many people hear it and find it to be very enjoyable.
I'm not saying I want to pursue a dream with music, but it's always been a passion of mine. "Hugh DEFner" will be available in February....and you might even hear me, DJ Hi-DEF on a song or 2...who knows....?
These next 2 beats represent the yin and the yang of my life.
'For every good deed, there are about 3 to follow. But never give in to the negativity and do your best to push on even when the world despises you'
But I digress. It's celebration time, bitches. Can't reflect on things I can't change. Oh yeah, I sent some more remixes and all that to the blogs who mess with me, and only 2 of the 8 or so have really kept it 'one hunnid' (lol) with me so big shouts to CURRENTHIPHOP.COM and DOTGOTIT.COM.
I'm still debating on whether or not "Hugh DEFner" will be a compilation cd or a 'beat' tape. I'm thinking the latter...we'll see. Maybe I need to find a few more 'spitters' out there. I'm sure there is SOMEONE out there that can get on these beats just like there is a "THE ONE" out there for me too. lol Guess I have my work cut out for me. Damn I have never written a longer blog before...well, maybe when I first started 'thisishd' a yr or 2 ago. Anyway, enjoy. Leave feedback and whatnot.
Peace to all. Happy Halloween. ANd HAPPY F'N BDAY TO ME!
"Depression tells me 'I suck' so I reply 'I ain't here because I fell down, I'm here because I got up!" -Joe Budden
HI-DEF-GOOD 4 YOU produced by HD **This song was titled something else, but I decided to change the entire beat but keep the sample from Diana Ross"
HI-DEF-Out For the Kill prod by HD **Sample from Flashdance the movie. I forget the artist's name. I was going thru my Pop's vinyl collection and heard some pretty dope stuff. Needless to say, this sample was one that really caught my attention.** I loved the beginning part. In case you don't know what she's saying, it's "SEXY, AND HE'S SMOOOOTH" I used to be. lol
This beat I made is definitely one of the simplest yet most intricate of beats I've done in a minute. Sure the drum patterns are a little off, and sure the 'chipmunk' sound is played out. But I'm not perfect, and the bass still knocks crazy! But I will say this....the Hugh DEFner mixtape will be my finest production work and I'm going to let the emotions out musically on this one.
Kinda crazy that a soul sample can speak to my soul than a 'living' human being. Ahhh, music where have you been, my love?
